Andy Baker aka Andreas Rossi beginners class showcase matches- OVW Ohio Valley Wrestling 2003-2004
My First Matches at OVW – Ohio Valley Wrestling Beginners Class Showcase (2003-2004)
Looking back at my early days in professional wrestling, my time at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) played a significant role in shaping my career. Before arriving at OVW, I had already spent a few years training in the UK, but I didn’t truly start learning my craft until I set foot in Louisville, Kentucky.
In 2003 and early 2004, I had the opportunity to compete in the OVW Beginners Class Showcase, an event designed to give trainees their first taste of in-ring action in front of a crowd. These matches were some of my first experiences wrestling in the United States, and they remain an important part of my journey.
The Matches
In the video linked below, you’ll find three of my early matches at OVW, wrestling under Andy Baker until changing my in ring name and persona to Andreas Rossi:
Tag Team Match: Andy Baker (Andreas Rossi) & Steve Lewington vs. Angry Anthony & Dewey
Tag Team Match: Andy Baker (Andreas Rossi) & Steve Lewington vs. Obi Matt Kenobi & Vince "The Prince" Hall

Reflections on My Early OVW Days
These matches were a huge learning experience for me. OVW at the time was WWE’s developmental territory, and being in that environment taught me invaluable lessons about psychology, storytelling, and the discipline needed to succeed in professional wrestling. Working alongside talented individuals at OVW helped me grow both as a performer and as a competitor.
While I had trained in the UK before heading to OVW, it was during my time in Louisville that I began to truly understand the finer details of wrestling. From running the ropes correctly to improving my ring awareness, OVW was where I really started honing my skills.
Looking Back
Watching these matches today, I can see just how much I evolved as a wrestler over time. It’s always humbling to look back at where I started, remembering the passion and drive that pushed me to chase my dreams. My journey in wrestling took me across the world, and while my career had its ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade those early experiences for anything.
